Progress Update - November 18th 2021

Well… that was quite the long time in between updates. I’ll admit, I was embarrassed that I haven’t finished book two and shamefully hid in my writing hole until I could actually post a progress update.

The reason why? It’s simple really: I was frustrated with book one. I love this amazing world and all the characters but parts of the story didn’t feel quite right. I would read and re-read everything and get more and more frustrated. The fix? A few lines… that’s all it took. A few lines and now I finally feel pride in this accomplishment, this fantastic labor of love. For the curious, the lines were to add bit more suspense and anxiety throughout the book. If you want more details I’d be happy to share the updates via email upon request. I don’t want to post any spoilers for those who haven’t finished reading just yet.

Yes, I have been diligently crafting the second book. In fact, I’ve had quite the breakthrough this morning and it’s beginning to feel brand new again. That feeling I had writing book one, when I was really cruising through it, it’s back. I’m disappointed to report that we’re quite heavily delayed from where I hoped to be (draft out by Q3 of 2021 and finals by Q2 of 2022) but I’m pleased to report that we likely won’t be that far off from at least the final deadline. I’m forever grateful for those who take the time to read my stories and even for reading these silly little posts. A gift for all you lovely goobers, a little bit of a snippet from book two that I had written long before I had even finished writing book one (disclaimer, this isn’t finalized):

“There is something truly remarkable about dreams. Everything seems to make sense while we're asleep, yet when we wake, it all seems a cloud of disconnected nonsense. Every so often though, we dream and have full knowledge that nothing is real. It’s in those dreams that we become something more. We come alive… we are awakened.

With no fear, no shame, no worldly attachments, we are bound only by our own imagination. We wield unlimited power with no laws to hold us back, no barriers to block our path. I have flown through the sky, created kingdoms, traveled to other worlds. I have been merciful and I have been ruthless. I have done unbelievable things, become unimaginable creatures; and still no one will know the truth of it all. No one, except me.

Dreams, they become another world that is ours to command, ours to rule. But today we ask; what happens at the intersection of those two worlds? What happens when your sleeping mind decides to wake? When reality seeps into our dreams, those dreams suddenly become nightmares. But when your dreams cross that threshold into the waking world, this reality, will it all become a nightmare? Or will you take control of your dreams to make them real?”
