Sept Reading List! - September 10th 2020

I had a blast reading and supporting the authors during our August reading list so, well I decided to do it all over again for September (and most likely October)! I’m taking a slightly smaller chunk of works here but they are almost all larger works so it’ll end up being more to read through.

I’ll be giving special shout-outs to a few folks on Twitter that I felt did superbly on their writing in August. I don’t want to call anyone out for their underwhelming novels but I did want to say something here: If you list your writing for purchase or submit for someone to review, you are a writer. You are an author. You need to have pride in your work, you need to help build this community up! Some of what I had read were absolutely first drafts while others were unedited, poorly written and more than one had absolutely no plot. Literally just random scenes! Now remember, almost all were for purchase, not up on a blog or available for free. These were fully for sale and I spent my money on a number of them (others were KU so no big deal). I was upset that I helped support those authors and it reflects horribly on all of the self-published folks out there.

I am someone who self-published their work. I am also someone who had glaring grammatical issues in my first novel. Yet within a few weeks I had remedied those issues. Self-publishing does not mean you have to live forever with a mistake. You can fix it so easily on Amazon KDP or Barnes and Noble Press. Heck, even changing the story (more than just typos) is doable! Worst case scenario, you take your original work down and put a fully formed and fully edited work back in its place.

Alright that’s enough ranting and rambling. ON TO THE LIST!

As I mentioned in our August list, I’m not going to be wearing any kiddie gloves here, I’m giving my honest opinions! I’m also changing up the rules a bit here; if I purchase your work then I’ll 100% leave a review on the site I purchase it from. If it’s available for free or on KU then I’ll give a review on Twitter specifically (but I still might review on Amazon if I love it). I’ll leave long-winded reviews of all here on my site… if I get the motivation!
